Come Along and Have a Go
We’re always keen to meet new players and to introduce them to croquet. Whether you’re an expert or a complete novice or only played garden croquet before, read on to find out about open days and introductory courses to suit you.
Our Club Sessions from April 2022 are Mon & Sat from 1.30pm and Thu from 10am. Please arrive early to help organise a rota of play.
“Have a Go” – we have a stock of mallets and equipment for you to use, we’ll give you all the basic instruction you’ll need. You only need a pair of flat-soled shoes to get started.
“Experience Croquet” – We offer taster sessions, customised for community groups of all ages. These are fun sessions to learn the basics of croquet, in a friendly environment.
If you want to come down as a group then please contact us and we can discuss what you need and what we’d be able to provide.
“Open Days” – Not sure if croquet is the sport for you? Even if you’ve never set foot on a croquet lawn, we hold FREE OPEN DAYS during the season so you can come along and see what the game is like.
We hold coaching courses free to members every year and all members are welcome to join in these sessions. The aim is to learn basic techniques and skills needed to enjoy the game at all levels including at a competitive level.
Children & Young People
We are a family friendly club, and like to encourage children to play from nine years of age. Children need to be accompanied by an adult or responsible person . Our Child Safeguarding Policy can be found under Club Policies linked below.
Please speak to our Club Captain if you are interested in junior coaching.
We will be arranging “Experience Croquet” sessions for schools and youth groups during 2022. Croquet is a popular sport at many British universities, with the Croquet Association arranging the UK Student Championship each year. The World Croquet Federation organises the Under 21 Golf Croquet World Championship.
